about

(The track listing of this album is supposed to represent the cycle of a relationship as closely as possible. And here we are at the end. We've both moved on. We're taking what we can get from whoever we can to fill the void. There's still that little "what if?" that lingers, though. A "what if" that may never be answered.)

This song was 1 of 2 songs written while I was actually recording this album and popped in at the last minute.

My late father, a drummer, had his drums set up in the living room where I'd write and play these songs. He would play along with me and since he knew the song from when I first began to write it, and I enjoyed the way his style sounded on the song, I asked him to come to the studio to be a "guest drummer" for this song. It was, of course, also partly done to just thank him for his support during the years I spent writing and playing with and without the band... in his living room... with no sound barriers of any kind.

"Forever In My Heart" was engraved on a Zippo lighter given to me by the girl who inspired this song (and many others on the album).

lyrics

(LYRICS)
Until I can breath on my own give me some air.
Until I am rich give me some money.
Until I find love… Until I find love.

Don’t leave me alone.
I’ll take your handouts, enough to get me by,
but I won’t be happy 'til I’ve found love.

Are you my crayon that fills me with color?
Am I looking for something I’ve already found?
I may never know until you do.

There’s gotta be something out there.
There’s gotta be something new.
I know it’s gotta be out there and I wonder if it’s you.

Our time went stale, we’ve grown apart
and I wonder if I am still "forever in your heart".

You’re happy and I'm happy for you.
I am OK with that… I am OK with that.
But I wonder if it’s you I miss or just having you around?
Well I may never know until you do.
