about

In an attempt to get back into writing, I decided to try and learn my old band, Circuit Theory's song. It ended up in a different scale with some interesting new vocal melodies so I thought I'd record it so I didn't forget anything. Next thing I know, I'm fleshing it out into its own entirely new song.

lyrics

Take another look at this life gone stale.
Open up your eyes to the desecration.
Who did you think you were fooling this time?
We can see that your light has faded.

You'll never know so don't pretend.
I can't believe you're back here again.
Stop your faking and start the waiting
for that other half to pass away.

Mother, may I question you?
How'd you get so sick and jaded?
Now you've got no life to call your own.

Scraping up your knees crawling all around me.
Hoping for my re-assurance.
Can't you see that I want nothing more
Than to see you on your feet again.

You'll never know so don't pretend.
I can't believe you're back here again.
Stop the faking and start the waiting
for that other half to pass away.

Mother, may I question you?
How you got so sick and jaded?
Now you've got no son to call your own.

You silly, little thing. You silly, little thing. You're such a silly, stupid little thing.

You can find her falling down
Trying to beat this cruel addiction.
But she's running into only this, my endless dereliction.

Mother, may I question you?
How you got so sick and jaded?
Now you've got no life to call your own.

Mother, may I let you go?
Don't wait up, 'cause I'm not coming home
Because now I've got a life to call my own.
